This journey takes us to some of the most vibrant and varied ports in the Western Mediterranean, combining the fiery passion of Spain with the rich, layered charm of Morocco. I’ve just returned from this itinerary myself—and I promise, it’s one to remember.
Let me walk you through it, port by port, with a few thoughts for solo travellers along the way…
Barcelona, Spain.
A city that always sets the tone for adventure. Whether you’ve been before or it’s your first time, Barcelona never fails to inspire. Wander through the Gothic Quarter, marvel at Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia, or take in the views from Park Güell. If you’re arriving early, don’t miss a gentle stroll along the beachfront or a glass of cava in a shaded square. Perfect for solo wandering and people-watching.

Málaga, Spain.
A city full of soul and sunlight. You’ll find art, history, and beach life all within walking distance. Visit the Picasso Museum (he was born here!), climb the Gibralfaro Castle for panoramic views, or enjoy a solo lunch of freshly grilled sardines by the sea. It’s a very walkable, easy-going city—ideal for a confident solo explore.

Cádiz (for Seville), Spain.
Cádiz itself is a delight—charming streets, palm-lined squares, and some of the oldest history in Europe. But if you’ve never been, a trip to Seville is absolutely worth the transfer. Think orange blossoms, flamenco rhythms, and jaw-dropping architecture like the Alcázar Palace. I’d recommend joining an organised excursion here to make the most of the day.

Casablanca, MoroccoA real shift in pace and energy. Morocco is fascinating and beautiful, but I do always offer a gentle word to my solo ladies: please consider joining a guided tour here. It makes all the difference. Casablanca is home to the majestic Hassan II Mosque, the largest in Africa, and the art deco details scattered through the city are simply stunning. Just go prepared, and you’ll be rewarded with a rich, unforgettable experience.

Valencia, SpainThis city surprised me—in the best way. It has a relaxed charm and some truly unique attractions, like the City of Arts and Sciences and the lush Turia Gardens that snake through the city like a green ribbon. The old town is full of little tapas spots and beautiful architecture, perfect for a relaxed wander.

Palma de Mallorca, Spain. Elegant, sun-drenched, and easy to explore solo. Stroll up to the impressive La Seu Cathedral, or take a walk along the marina to admire the boats (and dream a little). If you fancy a quieter moment, the old town is filled with tucked-away courtyards and cool cafés.

Ibiza, Spain. Yes, it’s famous for the nightlife—but Ibiza also has a gentle, spiritual side. If you're not heading out late, consider exploring Dalt Vila, the old fortified town, or take a walk along Talamanca Beach for a quieter coastal feel. You’ll overnight here, which means you can enjoy the island at a slower pace.

Final Thoughts for Solo TravellersThis itinerary offers a beautiful blend of vibrant cities, historic treasures, and peaceful moments at sea. Spain, in particular, is wonderfully solo-friendly—safe, sociable, and full of those little serendipitous moments that make travelling alone so special.
As for Casablanca, it’s definitely worth seeing—but please do consider going with a guide or through an organised tour. When we travel solo, it’s not about being fearless—it’s about being smart, informed, and kind to ourselves every step of the way.
